Friends are just friends. Friends are friends with benefits. Friends are people who want a relationship.
I had a conversation with a friend a few weeks ago where the topic of guys and girls as platonic friends came up. My theory? Guys and girls can have a strictly platonic friendship. My friend’s view was the opposite. That in rare cases, yes it is possible, but for the most part there will always be some kind of “tension”.
The difference in opinions intrigued me. Was my point of view completely unmerited, or was it my friend’s? I started an informal poll. And by informal I mean, posing this question to various friends if the opportunity arose.
You know what I discovered? That the answers were evenly split. So much for hoping to win that argument with statistics!
So dear Internet, what’s your view on the subject?

Binary Anyone?
April 7, 2008If I were to tell you I’m fluent in several languages, would you believe me? Shocking, no? Well, it’s true; sort of. My friend’s husband tells us that my girlfriends and I speak in Binary. A friend of mine tells me that since I am a girl I naturally speak Martian. I speak English everyday, and when the need arises, I will attempt to speak French.
So my theory is that makes me fluent in several languages. Yes, I do realize that this is akin to a kid saying they are fluent in Pig Latin. But it’s a Monday. I haven’t posted in forever, and this was the only thing I could think of right now.
I wanted to write a post back in February to mark the one year anniversary of my dad’s passing, but I just couldn’t bring myself to finish it. I had too many thoughts to share, and my emotions were making it difficult to organize them properly.
Last Friday would have been my parents’ 27th wedding anniversary. I spent the day trying to ignore the fact which I’m positive was easier for me than my mom. Tomorrow will be my dad’s 79th birthday, a day none of us are looking forward to.
It always seems to be something, doesn’t it?
